GOOD START
![]() Saturday saw positive results for teams from Terengganu in the Malaysian Super League. Despite not able to take full points from their match against Kedah, Terengganu managed to stop the habit of losing to the Canaries this season after a 1-1 draw in Kuala Terengganu. But the broader smile would be on Che Ku Marzuki's face after his boys completed the 'double' over 2010 Malaysian FA Cup winners, Negeri Sembilan in Paroi.
At the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Terengganu began on a bright and aggresive note against their tormentor in Alor Setar last week. For the home fans they did not have to wait long to celebrate when striker Abdul Manaf Mamat shrugged off the challenge from Kedah defender Fazliata Taib for the ball before calmly beating Abdul Hadi Abdul Hamid in the Kedah goal.
Many would have expected the floodgates to open but the visitors began to get their rhytym to the match. despite this Terengganu created a number of chances to increase their lead with Manaf hitting the bar with a header and topscorer Ashaari Shamsuddin was able to get his shots away but did not really trouble Abdul Hadi.
But the real turning point of the match was when Manaf was brought down from behind by Fazliata in the box but referee Abu Bakar Mohd Noor waved the tackle from behind was legal despite the striker had to be taken off for treatment.
At half-time the score was 1-0 to the home side but it did not last long. Whatever was said during the break by Kedah Head Coach Ahmad Yusoff certainly had it effects as Kedah started the second with a second wind. Terengganu defence led by skipper Marzuki Yusof had to work hard trying to keep their goal intact. Then they conceded a free-kick just outside the box, something that would come back to haunt them. From the freekick goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee failed to gather the ball cleanly and substitute Khyril Muhymeen who came on for Azlan Ismail at the start of the second half, pounced on the rebound to level the score for Kedah.
Both teams then went all out looking for the winner but in the end just could not find the way through.
Meanwhile in Paroi T-Team had to endure the barrage of attacks by the home side, determined to avenge their defeat in Kuala Terengganu last week. However they failed to find their way through due to their misfiring front line. The home side had a bigger hill to climb when their skipper Reezal Zambry Yahya was sent off due to a second bookable offence.
With ten men, Negeri Sembilan seemed to content to play for just a point but deep into injury time T-Team topscorer Abdul Hadi Yahaya found himself a yard of space just outside the penalty box and unleashed a stinging shot that had goalkeeper Sani Anuar beaten all the way.
The three points saw T-Team climbed to fifth in the league and if they can keep up their winning ways Terengganu football fans will have two teams to cheer at the top of the Malaysian Super League in the second half of the season.
